Poison

I have had to call poison control twice in the past month.  I was worried the second time that they might send someone out to take my kids.  Does this make me a bad mom?

Time #1  Brennan ate half a bottle of gummy calcium vitamins in one day.  Thankfully they were not multi vitamins & did not have iron in them.  He was fine.  Not even a tummy ache.  "They were good", he said.

Time # 2  Elsie ate mushrooms from our yard.  She loves vegetables.  Yes, kinda weird for a kid, I know.  We garden & grow lots of different vegetables in the yard.  How would she know that mushrooms growing in the grass are not a vegetable to be consumed?  So, for all of the other moms who have kids that eat things.  The ones that have pure white spores on the bottom are dangerous.  They are the ones to worry about.

I still have all three kids.  They are all alive. "They" aren't taking any away from me.

I am glad.

I felt the same way when i had to call poison control last fall. Except it was my fault - I gave a double dose of her prescription pain medication after she broke her arm. She was fine but she did fall asleep at school and i had to go pick her up.
Glad they let you keep your kids, too.

If it makes you feel better, we've had both experiences happen here . . . along with several others. The gummi vitamin one turned out the same way; the mushroom incident resulted in an overnight hospital stay, so you lucked out! :)
