We decided to take a trip out to California last week to visit the family. Rich had a little break before he has a full client load. We haven't visited his parents in WAY too long. So we hopped in the car & drove out. They live in Gridley, CA which is up north of Sacramento. It's such a nice little town. It's a farming community that is nearly all orchards & crops. I really love visiting & having a chance to relax a little.

The kids loved it as well. Brennan loves his grandparents so much. They love to spoil him & he doesn't mind it a bit. Elsie warmed up quickly as well. She even let Grandpa hold her. We had fun going to the park, visiting our favorite thrift stores, seeing the salmon swimming upstream to the fish hatchery, going to some good Mexican restaurants, riding Grandpa's tractor, and enjoying good company. Thanks for a great time, Mom & Dad!

Wait, I didn't know that Rich was from Gridley?! I knew he served his mission with one of my old high school boyfriends, but that's crazy! Does he know the Thomas's? Wayne and Brenda? I went to Ricks with their daughter Emily. And Nick was their exchange student. Small, small world.

How funny your husband is from Gridley! I served in the Roseville Mission and that was a coveted area in our mission to serve. Such great people that are "salt of the earth." It sounds like his family fits the mold.

So fun! I miss Gridley so much. When are we gonna get Tom and Debbie out here permanently? If they ask, my whole family is crossing our fingers for them to move out here!

We had such a great time seeing you, too! I'm sorry we didn't to hang out more. And Kimber--sorry--but Tom & Deb are staying put in Cali. :) I can't have my *whole* family leave me alone!

Love, Vickie
