Welcome Baby!

I would like all of you to meet the newest addition to our family.

Burton Roderick Tripp

We have been blessed to have him as part of our family for just over a week now. Let me tell you a little about our sweetie.

He was born on Jan 27th, 2011 at 12:59 pm. He weighed 6 lbs 12 oz & was 19 inches long. He came very quickly. The nurse said it was her fastest induction ever. My body was quite ready to deliver, though. When I came in to the hospital I was already dilated to almost a 4 and 90% effaced. I will tell you, though- I LOVE EPIDURALS! I went through some pretty heavy contractions. My pitocin kicked in quickly & I had to wait quite some time for the drug doctor to give me my shot. I love that man!

When we left the hospital he was down to 6 lbs 2 oz. He had lost 9% of his body weight & was jaundiced. So we had to get his billirubin levels checked a few times. He is fine now, thankfully. I am pretty sure he's gaining weight back, too. We'll see next week at his check-up.

Burton was born with SO much hair! We were shocked because the other 2 kids were not born with much hair. The other thing that is really fun is that his hair is quite red, so far. I am really hoping that it stays this color. I LOVE IT!

Burton is such a calm, sweet baby. Brennan and Elsie adore him & always want to hold him. Burton isn't sleeping much yet, which is pretty hard on me. He is also ravenous at all times. He is like this bottomless pit. I think I may need to start filling in the holes with some formula because I can't keep up with his intense hunger!

He hates being changed & hates his bath. He screams his lungs out during both of those. Other than those times, he is a really easy little guy. If ony we could get him sleeping!!!!!
We love the sweet spirit that a newborn brings to our home. There really is nothing like it.

congrats~ I am so glad he came fast. Try and enjoy this time because it blurs by in a sleep deprived sore nipples phase but at the end of it time flies. I had a bottomless pit too. The thing I found that helped the most is to pump 45 minutes after each feeding that I could find the time (VERY hard) and it seemed to boost my supply. That and fenugreek herbs and basil oils. I was trying everything! I also bought a hands free pump holder so I could multi taks while pumping. Oh the joys of early motherhood! Good luck - we can't wait to meet him.

Karyn- Congratulations on that beautiful new baby boy! When I saw your husband last week at church, I told him I had never seen so much non-dark hair on a baby in my life. He was pretty excited about the new babe. It was darling.

I'm so happy for you!

Congrats on the arrival of Burton. Sounds like labor and delivery went well for you. He's beautiful and I love his hair. I bet you paid for that hair with heartburn though. My babies come out with tons of hair and I usually have horrible heartburn.
Sorry, he's not a sleeper. He's pretty tiny, hang in there, he'll hit the 10 pound mark and life will be different. Keep posting pics when you can.
Love to you and the family.

Congratulations!! Love the beautiful head full of hair! Good luck figuring out the feeding and sleeping stuff. His hunger may taper off, my little Annie was like that for two weeks and family members were telling me perhaps she needed formula too (but she was a BIG girl) and after two weeks she wasn't ravenous anymore...hurray!
